2-Dimensional electrophoresis is a combination of isoelectric focusing electrophoresis and SDS-PAGE.The first dimension is Isoelectric Focusing Electrophresis(IEF)(to separate proteins based on isoelectric point-pI) and the second is SDS-PAGE(based on molecular size). After electrophoresis and staining, there will be a 2-Dimensional image of protein distribution.
